1st Generation Programmable Consoles
One limitation quickly became clear with the Pong-type consoles and that was
the fact that the player was limited to just the 1-4 games that were pre-
programmed into the system. With the introduction of the Fairchild Channel-F
and it's program cartridges, this would change. The graphics and game play
were simple but these systems offered large selections of games, with the
Atari 2600 becoming the most popular game system for years to come.
